Fornham Golf Club

Tubes have a framework partnership with Anglian Water and have been working with them and it’s frame work partners for over 20 years. We have strong relationships with our client.

The Timber bridge at Fornham Golf club, which was supporting an Anglian Water main water line, was deteriorating and in need of replacement.

Scaffolding was provided for safe access to remove the existing bridge. This bridge was supporting a water pipe.

The scaffold spanned 16 metres across the river and used 732mm deep aluminium beams. It was erected in two sections either side of the bridge and linked using 310mm deep steel ladder beams as ledgers.

These were then fitted with transoms at 500mm centres before boarding and handrailing to create the platform.

The main challenge and obstacle on this project was the water! To overcome this, we built the scaffold on the ground in sections and this was craned into position.

Access was also a challenge on this project because it was across the golf course, so ground aluminium protection mats (were installed by the contractor to preserve the course and to ensure that our heavy machinery could access the work area within close proximity.

The course was still open to the public so safe working was required as always.
